Faber's Cylinders for Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) applications

With a complete range of diameters (from 140 mm to 660 mm), capacities (from 10 to 700 litre) and pressures (up to 700 bar working pressure), Faber's cylinders are suitable for the most versatile applications in Natural Gas Vehicles. Faber supplies lightweight high-quality cylinders for CNG all over the world. Motor companies involved in the production of OEM NGVs appreciate Faber's willingness and ability to comply with the strictest safety regulations and with all the specific requirements for accuracy in cylinders dimensions. Faber has produced more than 7 million cylinders specifically designed for NGV applications. Most of them are still in service after more than twenty years in over 40 countries worldwide.

Unfortunately we are not able to supply directly to the final user. The manufacturing of cylinders requires production lots and therefore we are not able to quote for less than 200 pieces of same size cylinders. When you contact our sales department please keep in mind that:

  • we do not issue price lists;
  • our sales department and distributors will be glad to let you have a quotation for the types, the sizes (diameter and capacity) and the quantities you need;
  • please be precise about the manufacturing standard of the CNG cylinders you want to purchase. If you do not specify it we are not able to issue a quotation (a guide to the regulations is available if you logon at Faber's Database & Drawings)
  • we are able to offer and confirm orders for 200 or more cylinders of same type and size. Sometimes the size of the order can be smaller as we try to optimize shipping and transport costs of full load containers. However distributors are able to provide you with smaller lots.
  • we ship our CNG cylinders packed on pallets in 20' or 40' containers;
  • our offers can be based on ex-works or CIF destination port terms;

Some important advice: prices for CNG cylinders can vary significantly depending on the cylinder type and manufacturer. Sometimes manufacturers and middle companies offer cylinders originally designed for industrial gases as cylinders for CNG use because of their lower price. This is not to be recommended. Faber CNG cylinders are designed and manufactured specifically for NGV use according to the specific requirements set down by International and Local Authorities for Compressed Natural Gas applications.

Faber's Composite Cylinders for NGVs

For more than 20 years Faber has been developing ultra-light fibre-reinforced cylinders for Natural Gas Vehicles. These cylinders are approved worldwide by all major safety Bodies and Authorities. Many well known vehicle manufacturers incorporate and install them as standard components under OEM agreements. The steel liner of Type 2 Faber Composite Cylinders is by itself capable of withstanding a pressure which exceeds the actual filling pressure of the cylinder. This protects against the danger of bursting even in case of the total loss of the fibre wrapping. All the tests required by the strictest standards have confirmed the total reliability of Faber's composite cylinder. Faber's Type 2 composite cylinders are available with Carbon Fibre Hoop Wrapping

Faber's Type 3 cylinders are available with seamless steel and aluminum liners.

Faber's Type 4 cylinders are based on a Faber patents.

Composite cylinders are more expensive than steel cylinders and therefore they are mainly installed in OEM vehicles. Faber CNG Composite Cylinders are designed in order to reduce the weight of the vehicle as much as possible at a cost acceptable to vehicles manufacturers.
